Collections
The Archives and Rare Books Library (ARB) has five main collecting areas: the University's Rare Books and Manuscripts, University Archives, Local Governmental Records, the Urban Studies Collection, and the German-Americana Collection. ARB's acquisitions are guided by the department's Collection Development Policy.
The Archives and Rare Books Library's collection development policy provides guidance to ARB’s staff, University of Cincinnati Libraries (UCL), and potential donors toward the fulfillment of ARB’s mission. It provides a framework for identifying potential materials, appraising their historical and research value and the cost to maintain them, selecting appropriate material, and acquiring materials through donor agreements or purchase.
