Software in the Langsam Library Accessible Technology Space
The following assistive technology is available on the Dell computer:
- Accessibility features in Windows 11, including Narrator and Magnifier
- NVDA screen reader
- JAWS screen reader
- ZoomText Magnifier & Reader
- Read&Write
- Equatio
The following assistive technology is available on the iMac:
- Accessibility features in MacOS, including VoiceOver and Zoom settings
- Read&Write
- Equatio
Windows Narrator
Before you log in, the default screen reader available is Windows Narrator. To activate Windows Narrator, press the following keys: Windows key + Control + Enter
NVDA
To launch NVDA:
- Press the Windows key or click the Windows Start menu, type “NVDA”, and hit Enter.
- Keyboard shortcut to launch NVDA: Control + Alt + N
- To exit NVDA, press the following keys: Insert + Q

To launch JAWS, press the Windows key or click the Windows Start, type “JAWS”, and press Enter.
To exit JAWS, press the following keys: Insert + F4

To launch ZoomText, press the Windows key or click the Windows Start menu, Type “ZoomText”, and press Enter.
To exit ZoomText use the following Keys: Alt + F4

To launch Read&Write, press the Windows key or click the Windows Start menu, type “Read&Write” and press Enter.
To exit Read&Write, click the “X” exit button at the top right-hand corner of the Read&Write toolbar.

To launch Equatio, Click the Windows Start menu in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, Type “Equatio” and hit Enter.
To exit Equatio, click the Equatio menu to expand the dropdown menu, and click the “Close Equatio” option.

To view the Accessibility features, open the Apple menu , select “System Settings” and select “Accessibility”.
Voiceover
To turn on VoiceOver, press the following keys: Command + F5
To exit VoiceOver, press the following keys: Command + F5

Read&Write
To launch Read&Write, open the Finder, and go to the Applications tab. Find and select the Read&Write application icon. The Read&Write toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen.
To exit Read&Write, click the “X” exit button at the top right-hand corner of the Read&Write toolbar.

To launch Equatio, open the Finder, and go to the Applications tab. Find and select the Equatio application icon. The Equatio toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen.
To exit Equatio, click the Equatio icon in the toolbar to expand the dropdown menu, and click “Close Equatio”.
