Library Service Updates

Updated Masking Guidelines:

As of March 2, 2022, except in classrooms and labs, masking becomes optional for community members and visitors. This includes library spaces and classrooms.

BeginningMarch 12, 2022, all masking restrictions will be eliminated including in the classroom and labs, so long as rates of hospitalization and transmissibility remain in the low-to-medium zones.

Exceptions:

Masks are still required: public transportation, clinical settings and for at least ten days after an exposure to COVID-19 or a COVID-19 diagnosis, regardless of vaccination status.

Members of the UC Community who prefer to continue to wear a mask for personal safety should continue to do so. According to the CDC, N95 and KN95 masks offer the highest level of protection.

Library services and access may be adapted in accordance with current and changing safety guidelines.

This means: When you are accessing library resources via the Library Catalog or website, you will be prompted to log in. You need to authenticate even if you have the VPN on. You no longer need to log in via the “Off Campus Access” button, and the “Off Campus Access” page has been eliminated.
  • More information on accessing online licensed library resources and help with troubleshooting problems is available at the Access Library Resources : FAQs.
  • Over the summer, the UC Libraries updated its proxy service. URLs for licensed online resources have been updated. If you try a link and it doesn’t work, scroll down to “Authentic/Proxy Link Troubleshooting.”
  • For assistance updating or generating a link, use the proxy link generator or proxy link converter.
