The University of Cincinnati Libraries is an integral partner in the university’s efforts to achieve its #NEXT Lives Here strategic directions. With the launch of the University of Cincinnati Libraries Strategic Plan, 2024-2027, we are increasing our impact by focusing on four Strategic Directions: Enrich Our Collections, Expand Our Impact, Strengthen Our Organization and Support Our Students.

UC Libraries preserves and provides access to special collections and the scholarly and historical record of the university, including archival as well as born-digital content and datasets.

As the intellectual hub for students and faculty, libraries provide a variety of spaces that inspire and promote learning and discovery.

With over 4 million volumes and access to thousands of electronic resources available 24/7 through our online library catalog, UC Libraries' virtual and physical spaces offer resources for everyone. UC Libraries includes the Walter C. Langsam Library, the Archives and Rare Books Library, the Donald C. Harrison Health Sciences Library, and eight college and departmental libraries serving constituents in applied science, architecture, art, biology, chemistry, classics, design, education, engineering, geology, mathematics, music, physics and planning.

Nose-hair inspired air filters clean better

UC College of Engineering and Applied Science Associate Professor Jonathan Pham and doctoral student Sazzadul Rahat and their research partners developed air filters that work much like your nose to trap particles.

UC awarded Purple Star again for Veterans Programs & Services

June 30, 2025

The University of Cincinnati’s Collegiate Purple Star recognition has been renewed. The designation is awarded by the Ohio Department of Higher Education, with eligibility determined by the Ohio Purple Star Advisory Board. UC was in the first cohort of Collegiate Purple Star awardees that received the designation in May 2022.

AI advancements give hackers new ways to launch cyberattacks

Advancements in technology such as artificial intelligence give cyber criminals more ways to exploit data. The Dayton Daily News looked to University of Cincinnati’s Richard Harknett, PhD, for context on the recent influx of cyberattacks. Harknett is co-director of the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, chair of the Center for Cyber Strategy and Policy and director of UC’s School of Public and International Affairs.
