Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The UCBA Library's physical space is currently closed to ensure the health and safety of library users. Chat and email support is available. Equipment is available by appointment only.

We will continue to update these FAQ’s and applicable web pages and adapt according to needs and feedback. Our hours and services are also subject to change due to changing safety measures, public health guidance and directives. As always, we will update the UCBA community on significant changes via email, the UCBA Library web site and LiBlog posts.

In-Person Services by Appointment Only

Available print and media materials can be requested through the library catalog.

Picks-ups and check-outs are available during the UCBA Library's open hours (see our website for hours exceptions). 

Requested materials will be available for contactless pick-up on the Click and Collect cart near the Library entrance.

The UCBA Library stacks will be closed to browsing; however, all available items can be requested via the Click and Collect service. 

OhioLINK user-initiated requests resume at participating libraries. The UCBA Library is participating in this initial phase of OhioLINK's resumption of services. OhioLINK holds will be available at the UCBA Library via the Click and Collect service.

  • UC Libraries materials are still unavailable for transit and pick-up at the UCBA Library. Click and Collect is still available for UC Libraries materials at the owning library location. Updates can be found at https://libraries.uc.edu/about/covid-19.html.

Laptops and calculators are available for check out to UCBA students only at the Library Information Desk. Extended due dates will apply. 

Extended Loan Period: The due date for all UC Library Materials will be February 15, 2021. Early returns are accepted and encouraged if the item(s) is no longer needed. 

Library books and media can be placed in the book drop just outside the library entrance anytime the campus is open. Equipment (laptops and calculators) returns are handled by appointment only.

Virtual Services

Faculty can Schedule a Consultation library liaisons about specific research and information literacy (IL) teaching support needs. Our online consultations (via Teams or WebEx) provide a range of support for research (e.g. classroom based, creative, discipline-specific). 

Students can Get Research Help with a research question or finding library resources for research or assignments. 

Use the UCBA Library Chat Service to speak with library staff and faculty in real-time by visiting the library website, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. through December 8, 2020. Real-time chat will resume January 11, 2021.

The Teaching Support page includes links to our information literacy content, incorporating that content into Canvas, scheduling a teaching consultation, and more. Note: library instruction classes are not available for fall semester.

Unavailable Services

As outlined in the July 31 email to UCBA faculty, Course Reserves will be unavailable at the UCBA Library (and across UC Libraries) for fall semester.
