Cricut in CECH Library

Our MakerLab includes a Cricut Maker 3, a Cricut Autopress, a Mini Press, and a Brightpad as well as a variety of materials for purchase and tools for your free use. We charge for some – but not all – materials, so refer to our price list and payment instructions before beginning a project. 

Before You Arrive

We welcome makers to complete all project steps in our MakerLab – from design to making and cutting to post-production – or you can bring your own design!

To create a project we recommend Cricut Design Space (free download) for initial design and project inspiration. This tool is excellent for beginners. 

You can also use project templates you find on Cricut Design Space, Canva, or elsewhere. If you’re using Canva, export as a PNG and then upload to Cricut Design Space prior to cutting.

Cricut Maker 3 
Primarily used for cutting and engraving paper, adhesive vinyl (permanent and removable), iron-on vinyl, cardboard, cardstock, chipboard (wood) and more. Self-service.

Cricut Autopress 
For iron-on vinyl projects, such as t-shirts, tote bags, and other textiles. Cut iron-on vinyl first using the Cricut Maker 3, then adhere it with the Autopress. Requires one-time training from CECH Library staff. 

Cricut Mini Press 
For smaller iron-on vinyl projects, such as hats or coozies. Self-service.

Brightpad 
For illuminating hard-to-see cut lines, making weeding projects easier. In Cricut-speak, weeding refers to separating a cut shape or image from the sheet of cutting material it came from. Self-service.

We accept payment at the end of your project at the Info Desk via Bearcat Card or UC departmental account string. 

Payment is due for ALL materials used, including failed cutting jobs.

NOTE: At this time, we do not support the use of infusible ink vinyl in our Autopress due to ventilation requirements.  

Getting Assistance

The Cricut Maker 3 is self-service, with training and support available by request. 

Anyone can use the Cricut Autopress, but we do require a brief training with a CECH Library staff member before you start your project.
