Introduction to the new General Records Schedule
The best way to get acquainted with Records Management is to attend a 1-hour workshop. In addition to workshops, the Staff Success Center offers an online training video for basic Records Mamagement requirements: Records Management at UC: The Basics.
Workshops are regularly scheduled at least twice a year. The next workshops for Fall 2019 will be:
- Thursday, October 17 from 10:00-11:00 AM in CECH Library Classroom (Teachers College)
- Wednesday, October 23 from 2:00-3:00 PM in CECH Library Classroom (Teachers College)

Introduction to Records Management
During this workshop we will discuss what benefits you will receive from managing your records, UC's records program and role as a keeper of public records, the definition of a "record," how to perform records inventories, the development of records retention schedules and proper means of records disposal.
During this workshop we will discuss the unique characteristics of electronic records that require attention, retention of electronic records, recordkeeping systems, special considerations for websites, databases, and business applications, and disposal of electronic records including transfer to the University Archives.
During this workshop we will discuss how to determine if an email message is a university record, retention of email, the characteristics of UC's email system, managing the inbox, and storage methods.
Who should attend?
These workshops are for new records officers who have not been introduced to records management at UC and existing records officers who need a refresher as well as anyone responsible for managing University records.
