A current UC ID is required to check out library materials. Users not affiliated with UC may apply for borrowing cards at Langsam Library's Circulation Desk.

Materials may be recalled for another borrower any time after 3 weeks. Books may be recalled for Reserve at any time. A $1 fine per day is charged for recalled materials not returned within the specified number of days. Borrowing privileges will be blocked if recalled materials are not returned. Daily fines remain on the borrower's record.

Note: Requesting a copy from another OhioLINK library is often quicker then recalling a checked out item.

Materials may be renewed online using the UC Library Catalog option: View Your Circulation Record, by phone at 556-1324, or in person at any Circulation Desk. Some restrictions may apply. Check with a library staff member for details.

Non-reserve materials (with the exception of slides) may be returned to any UC Libraries book drop:
--GMP Library Book Drop (Geology-Physics Building, 100 level entrance).
--Book drop on Woodside Drive, adjacent to the Langsam Library Garage.
--Any other UC Libraries Location.

Returning Reserves

GMP Library Reserves items must be returned to the GMP Circulation Desk. Reserves late fines are $1 per hour for 2-hour reserve materials, and $8 per day 1 day & 3 day reserve materials.

Overdue Materials

Materials are due on the date shown in Your Library Record.

For each item not returned, one overdue notice is sent.  If the material is not returned, a final notice (bill) is sent requesting payment for replacing the material ($100.00 minimum) and for processing the replacement material ($25.00). Cumulated charges may result in a block on borrowing privileges, and grades/transcripts will be withheld. If the material is returned, the $100.00 replacement fee is waived. However the $25.00 processing is still charged.

The fine for overdue OhioLINK items is 50 cents per day. Overdue fines for OhioLINK items and reserve materials remain on the borrower's record.

General circulation policies and library patron privileges can be found on the main UC Libraries  Circulation page.

E-mail notices are sent for overdues, recalls, and items that are ready for pick up. Borrowers should have e-mail addresses included in their library record. If this is not the case, an e-mail address can be inserted at the Circulation Desk. Borrowers should also View their own record in UCLID to check due dates, requests and charges.
