Multimedia Services

Langsam Library’s  Circulation and Multimedia Services Department houses multimedia instructional equipment for checkout by UC faculty, students, and staff. Included in the list of available equipment are:

  • Laptop computers                                               
  • Data projectors                                              
  • Digital video cameras                                            
  • Digital cameras
  • Amplified sound systems
  • Handheld digital audio recorders

Equipment may be borrowed for up to five days and can be renewed once for an additional five days, provided there are no additional reservations on the items. Many items are in high demand – patrons should limit the length of their loan periods whenever possible out of courtesy to other users. Patrons must pick up or return equipment at least one hour before the library closes. Library hours can be found here.

Equipment can be reserved in person at the Circulation and Multimedia Services Desk, or over the phone at (513) 556-1424. Patrons planning for events requiring multiple pieces of equipment, or requesting equipment for extended periods of time should make arrangement through the STRC Manager at (513) 556-1893.

Please note – with the exception of faculty designates as specified in “Who Can Borrow Materials” section, the Circulation and Multimedia Services Department does not allow any patron to borrow on another patron’s account (i.e. as a proxy borrower). For example, a staff person cannot send a student assistant to check out equipment using the staff person’s ID and/or account. The patron on whose account equipment is reserved and/or is being charged must be present at check out.  Reservations will not be transferred from one account to another unless the original patron authorizes the transfer in person. Likewise, information in a patron’s record such as equipment on reservation, loan periods, and fines accrued will not be shared with anyone other than the patron, per the University of Cincinnati Libraries policy on patron confidentiality.
