Videos and DVDs in the Library Collection

If you know the title or director, you can do a TITLE or AUTHOR search. From the drop-down menu next to "Limit all searches to:" instead of "View entire collection" select "Videos, Films, and Slides.)

To search for ALL films in a language, go to the KEYWORD search screen. Type an asterisk (*) in the search box. In the Optional Limits box do to the LANGUAGE box and select the language from the drop-down menu. Then  go to the VIDEOS/DVDs box and select "All" from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can select "Videos, Films, and Slides" from the drop-down menu next to "Limit all searches to:" instead of "View entire collection."

To search for ALL films about a country or culture in any language, go to the KEYWORD search screen. Type your term in the search box, for example. JAPANESE. Please note that this search is broad and may yield some irrelevant results. Also note that it is better to type the name of the language than the country, because otherwise the number of irrelevant results will increase dramatically.

Online Videos

Foreign Language Video Instruction "is a collection of video clips in which native speakers elaborate on a wide variety of topics about their culture, family, daily life, and more. Each video clip is accompanied by a description of its contents, the country of the speaker, and additional grammar and vocabulary notes. These videos are produced by the ViewPoints Project of the Five Colleges of Ohio consortium."

Digital Videos are in QuickTime format and require the QuickTime Player
