Biographical Directory of the United States Congress, 1774-present -Published by the US Congress (through the combined efforts of the Senate Historical Office and the Legislative Resource Center of the House of Representatives), this guide provides over 13,000 biographies. Includes biographies of individuals who served in any of the US national legislatures, to include the Continental Congress. Though not browse able, visitors may search the database by name, position, or state.
Chiefs of State and Cabinet Members of Foreign Governments - The directory is intended to be used primarily as a reference aid and includes as many governments of the world as is considered practical, some of them not officially recognized by the United States. Regimes with which the United States has no diplomatic exchanges are indicated by the initials NDE.
Congress - House Directory – Provides current information on members of the House with searching by name and state.
Congress - Senate Directory – Provides current information on members of the Senate with searching by state, name, or class.
Congressional Directory – Presents short biographies of each member of the Senate and House, listed by state or district. Also includes officials of the courts, military establishments, and other Federal departments and agencies, including D.C. government officials, governors of states and territories, foreign diplomats, and members of the press, radio, and television galleries.
Congressional Pictorial Directory - Provides photographs of members of Congress from 105th Congress onwards.
Diplomatic List – “The Diplomatic List, of missions in the U.S., is prepared by the Office of Protocol. It contains the names of members of the diplomatic staffs of all missions and their spouses. Members of the diplomatic staff are the members of the staff of the mission having diplomatic rank. These persons, with the exception of those identified by asterisks, enjoy full immunity under provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”

United States Government Manual - Provides information on the agencies of the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of the Federal government. Also includes details about: boards; commissions; committees; and quasi-official agencies and organizations in which the United States participates.

Agency Index (Washington University, Law Library) - Provides a grid of cabinet departments and independent agencies, with links to agency’s web site, on-line publications, forms, organizational charts, and opinions as applicable.
Almanac of American Politics – Searchable by state and district. Also provides political profile for each district as well as demographic statistics. Also available in print at Langsam Library (print holdings).
Carroll's GovSearch - This resource consists of a "database of contact information for Federal, State, and Local employees, as well as extensive Military information.”
CQ Congress Collection - Members of Congress (CQ Electronic Library) – Search for biographies of members of congress since the 91st Congress.
Federal Gateway - Frames index expands to list federal government information agencies in each branch, includes brief description of the organization’s mission as well as a web link.
Federal Web Locator (Center for Information Law and Policy, Villanova. ) - An alphabetical list of federal agencies with links to their web pages.
Internet Blue Pages (Cyberage Books) (print holdings) – A directory of federal agency URLs with a brief description of agencies.
Washington Information Directory (CQ Press) (print holdings) – Provides directory information for both public and private agencies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Who's Who in the Federal Government (University of Memphis) – Provides links to individual web sites of current cabinet members, committee chairs, and the Supreme Court.
