Individual study carrels are located along the perimeter of the library. Group study tables are located throughout the library. Please respect fellow library users by maintaining quiet conversation.
Two group study rooms (Rooms 302 & 303) are located on the library's second floor. Study rooms may be used by groups for up to two hours. A room key is available for checkout at the circulation desk. Faculty and staff may reserve the room in advance.

The College of Applied Science Library maintains AV equipment for the CAS campus. University of Cincinnati faculty, students and staff may reserve and borrow equipment for academic use. All equipment checkout is handled through the CAS Library circulation desk. Students are required to provide a letter of permission (on UC letterhead) from a professor in order to reserve or borrow equipment (see Policies below for more details). Students may not reserve or borrow data projectors, laptops, or equipment closet keys. Contact Ted Baldwin (Ted.Baldwin@uc.edu or 556-6594) for more information.
AV equipment is dispersed among the four buildings at CAS campus to ensure equipment is easily accessible. Equipment closets are located in the following rooms:

UC faculty and staff must have a valid UC photo ID and a library patron record. Part-time or visiting faculty without a UC photo ID must call the Library at 556-6594 or come in-person during open hours to make special arrangements for borrowing equipment.
UC students may borrow equipment for academic use (i.e. projects for UC courses or student group activities). Students must have a valid UC photo ID and library patron record. Students must obtain a letter from the UC faculty/staff member (on that person's departmental letterhead) overseeing their project. This letter must include the following: equipment needed, date(s) that equipment will be required, UC course or activity requiring use of equipment, and the responsible faculty/staff member's signature (view a template in Microsoft Word). Students may not borrow data projectors or laptops from the CAS Library - these may be available to borrow from Langsam Library's Multimedia Services department (556-1980).
What are the booking policies?
Equipment is booked on a first come, first served basis. Advance reservations
can be made for the current quarter only.
What are the costs and fines?
There are no charges to borrow equipment. Borrowers are responsible for loss or damage of equipment, and must sign a responbility agreement upon receiving equipment. If equipment is returned past the agreed return date, a late charge of $5/day per item will be applied to the user's library record.
There is a $10 fee for lost keys to AV closets and electronic classroom.
It is recommended that you book equipment in advance to ensure its availability. Call the Library at 556-6594, email Meshia.Anderson@uc.edu, or stop by the circulation desk to book equipment.
If you are using equipment for a class, come to the Library to check out the equipment closet key for the building where your classroom is located. A UC photo ID is required to check out a key. You are responsible for returning equipment to the closet following your class, and returning the closet key to the Library. If your class ends after the Library has closed, please return the closet key in the Library's "Book Depository" drop box.
Library Classroom
On the upper floor of the library is a classroom (seating for 25) equipped with a workstation, data projector, VCR player, overhead projector, and TV/DVD combo unit. Faculty and staff may schedule this room for one-time meetings or ongoing classes. Contact Ted Baldwin (CAS Librarian) at 556-6594 for more information.

To schedule a class or special event in a CAS electronic classrooms, contact Kathleen Davis (CAS adminstration) at 556-0722. Before your scheduled time to use an electronic classroom, come to the circulation desk and borrow a key to open the electronic classroom equipment cabinet. A valid UC photo ID and library patron record are required.
Equipment problems in electronic classrooms should be reported to CAS IT Support (556-4357).
Video/DVD Collection & Viewing Equipment
The Library has a collection of educational videos and DVDs which may be checked out for one week. The library provides viewing carrels with TV and DVD/VCR combo units and headsets for in-library viewing of VHS and DVD videos. The Info Commons @ CAS workstations are also equipped to play DVDs.
