The Library provides access to hundreds of databases and indexes. The list below provides an overview of key resources in selected subject areas. Arts & Humanities

ARTstor
Access to 300,000 images of architecture, painting, photography, sculpture, decorative arts, design, archeology, and anthological objects. Included in the image database is an Art History Survey Collection consisting of 4000 images and 20,000 architecture images from antiquity to the present. ARTstor allows users to create presentations and insert annotations.

Grove Art Online
Grove Art Online comprises the full text of The Dictionary of Art, edited by Jane Turner (1996, 34 vols) and The Oxford Companion to Western Art, edited by Hugh Brigstocke (2001). Articles that have been added or updated since their appearance in print are date-stamped in the upper right corner of the screen.

Grove Music Online
Grove Music Online comprises the full text of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, second edition, edited by Stanley Sadie and John Tyrrell (London, 2001), The New Grove Dictionary of Opera, edited by Stanley Sadie (London, 1992), and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, second edition, edited by Barry Kernfeld (London, 2002). Articles that have been updated since their appearance in print are date-stamped in the upper right corner of the screen.

NAXOS
Naxos Music Library is the most comprehensive collection of classical music available online. It includes the complete Naxos, Marco Polo and Da Capo catalogues of over 75,000 tracks, including Classical music, Historical recordings, Jazz, World, Folk and Chinese music. Whilst listening, users can read notes on the works being played as well as biographical information on composers or artists in Naxos's extensive database.

Current & Controversial Topic Finders

CQ Researcher
Covers the most current and controversial issues of the day with complete summaries, all the pros and cons, two bibliographies, and more.

Issues and Controversies @ FACTS.com
Is a dependable online source of up-to-date, in-depth and objective information on the most prominent and hotly debated issues of the day. It combines unbiased analysis, clear explanations of opposing points of view and numerous special features so students and other users can quickly grasp the essentials of even the most complex topics.

Opposing Viewpoints
Draws on the acclaimed social issues series published by the Greenhaven Press, as well as core reference content from other Gale and Macmillan Reference USA sources, to provide a complete one-stop source for information on social issues. Access viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to web sites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles.

Biographical

Biography Resource Center
This is a comprehensive database of biographical information on more than 220,000 people throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and subject areas. It combines over 300,000 biographies from respected Gale Group sources with full-text articles from more than 250 periodicals. The Complete Marquis Who's Who® comprises every person who has appeared in any of 20 Marquis Who's Who® titles from the past decade.

Biography and Genealogy Index
This database is a first stop index tool for learning where to look for biographical material on people from all time periods, geographical locations and fields of endeavor. Biography and Genealogy Master Index indexes any print product that includes biographical information on multiple persons. It also acts as an index to other indexes.

General

Academic Search Premier
Contains full text for nearly 3,180 scholarly publications and includes full-page images as well as color embedded images. Provides full-text journal coverage for nearly all academic areas of study including the social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies.

Expanded Academic Index
Access to articles from over 500 full-text journals in all disciplines.

Research Library
One of the most comprehensive databases available through the ProQuest® online system.  Research Library provides access to full-text journals across a wide range of subject areas, including business, education, literature, political science, and psychology. The database can be customized to meet the specific needs of many different types of libraries and information centers.

History

America: History and Life
America: History and Life is a comprehensive bibliography of articles on the history and culture of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. AHL offers abstracts and citations for articles appearing in over 2,000 journals published worldwide in history, related humanities, and the social sciences. Coverage also includes citations to book reviews from approximately 140 major journals of American history and culture, and relevant dissertations from Dissertation Abstracts International.

Historical Abstracts
Historical Abstracts is a reference guide to the history of the world from 1450 to the present (excluding the United States and Canada, which are covered in America: History and Life). Over 2,000 journals published throughout the world are covered in the database. In addition to including the key historical journals from virtually every major country and journals of regional history, Historical Abstracts includes a targeted selection of hundreds of journals in the social sciences and humanities that are of special interest to researchers and students of history. Historical Abstracts also cites new books reviewed in key English-language history and review journals. Dissertation citations relevant to the serial's subject scope are derived from Dissertation Abstracts International.

Literature

Literature Online (LION)
Literature Online is a fully searchable library of more than 350,000 works of English and American poetry, drama and prose, 128 full-text literature journals, and other key criticism and reference resources.

Literature Resource Center
Includes Gale’s Contemporary Authors Online (biographical coverage of more than 109,000 writers); Contemporary Literary Criticism Select, (entries on all authors appearing in CLCS since vol. 95 of the print series and complete profiles of the 266 most studied authors from editions prior to vol. 95); and Dictionary of Literary Biography Online (more than 10,000 biocritical essays on authors and their works written by academic scholars). The database also includes selected full-text, excerpted, and commissioned critical material from Gale's respected Literature Criticism and For Students Series.

MLA International Bibliography
The MLA International Bibliography provides a classified listing and subject index for books and articles published on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics. This database annually indexes over 45,000 books and articles.

LitFINDER
LitFINDER provides access to more than 135,000 full-text poems, stories, plays and additional information sources such as biographies, essays and explanations.

Science

Access Science
Full access to articles and dictionary terms from the 8th edition of the McGraw-Hill encyclopedia of science and technology.   Includes new and revised content from the encyclopedia's editors and contributors, including recent research developments, biographies of scientists, late-breaking science and technology news, new references, links to related web sites, learning resources and study guides, added illustrations, and much more.

Computer & Applied Sciences Complete
Computer & Applied Science Complete (CASC) covers the spectrum of the applied sciences, representing collected knowledge on traditional engineering challenges and providing material for research concerning the business and social implications of new technology. CASC provides indexing and abstracting for more than 1,300 academic journals, professional publications, and other reference sources from a diverse collection. Full Text is available for more than 500 periodicals.

Science Citation Index Expended (ISI Web of Science)
Science Citation Index Expanded (ISI Web of Science) provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information, author abstracts, and cited references found in approximately 5,900 of the world's leading scholarly science and technical journals covering more than 150 disciplines.

Statistics

American Fact Finder
American Fact Finder is a new data access and dissemination system that provides useful facts and information about your community, your economy, and your society. The system will find and retrieve the information you need from some of the Census Bureau's largest data sets.

Stat-USA
STAT-USA/Internet, a service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is the site for the U.S. business, economic and trade community by providing authoritative information from the Federal government.

Statistical Universe
Search an index to over 100,000 statistical publications. Search the most popular U.S. government reference book, Statistical Abstract; jump to other Web sites with useful information about statistics.
