September 17, 2007 - Lisa Haitz, University of Cincinnati employee, suggested the winning name OneSearch for the new library online search tool. For suggesting the winning name, Haitz won an iPod courtesy of Serials Solutions, creators of the online search tool.
Over 200 suggested names were entered into the contest. Other popular choices included: FindIt, USearch, FirstCat, and CAT Search. Humurous suggestions included: Beta Bearcat, bookle, Cybrarian, and LOL (Librarian OnLine).
OneSearch is available via the University Libraries Web site at www.libraries.uc.edu, as well as from other UC library Web sites. The powerful search tool allows users to search UC’s online Library Catalog and research databases simultaneously. From one location, users can search for books, articles, DVDs, images, and more. Numerous search options are provided in the tool such as: search by subject or by database, perform a “Quick Search” of key databases, or perform an “Advanced Search” by selecting databases by keywords.
