Off Campus Access
- Auto Login:
If you are logging into the proxy server via your bearcat online or blackboard account, it is now set as an auto login that skips the login process and goes directly back to the Health Sciences Library home page. Some University Hospital locations also have proxy auto login.
- Proxy Server Users - are you getting a warning page or an error message when you try to log into the proxy server? If so, it may the Security Warning page or certificate error message. Please go to Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 3 Secure Sites for information about what steps to take so you won't see this message every time you log into the proxy server.

The proxy server does not require any software installation. Authentication
is based on whether you are in the library catalog database. To check
whether you are in the database, call Circulation at 558-0127. Once logged
into the proxy server, navigate from the Health Sciences Library website home page to access UC eResources including
the Library Catalog.
Off Campus Access Options
In addition to the Proxy Server, if you are a UC faculty, staff or currently enrolled student, there are additional options for accessing electronic resources from off campus:
Central Login Information for UC Students, Faculty and Staff
Please note: The Central Login is your University of Cincinnati username or 6 + 2 (up to the first 6 letters of your last name, the first initial of your first name, and the first initial of your middle name) and the default password is your birthdate in the Uc!mmddyyyy format. You may have already changed your default password; in which case when your password expires, you will be required to set a strong password.
University Hospital and Childrens staff: There is no change in your proxy server login

Password Self Service go to Password Self Service to retrieve a forgotten password or change a password - you must fill out everything on the form

University Hospital staff: please note - 988 numbers are issued to serve as a password. If you need an ID card, please call the circulation number 558-0127 for information about how to get one.
- UCit has moved to a new, more secure Virtual Private Network (VPN). The web-based SSL VPN (Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network) provides a secure “private” connection between external networks and the University’s internal network. - Log in using your Central Login Service credentials. Click on the Network Connect “Start” button and wait for the orange lock icon to appear on your taskbar. Your initial login will trigger a download that installs in the background once you click on the beige bar at the top of the screen and click on "Accept."
